The now closed Couture’s “The Ponds” as it was commonly called was a summer and winter destination for the sounding communities. Coutures business was well diversified, amongst other things they rented rowboats by the day. Sadly they eventually went out of business, I am not sure why but eventually the state bought some of the land and turned the area into a state park that sits off of Pequot Lake, now known as Hampton Ponds State Park!
The oars condition are from fair to good, these have aged nicely, if you like that rustic look then these are the ones for you. You will notice that this is not a matching pair, one is 1/4” shorter then the other, one has a brass oar lock the other is some other metal. They are both branded with Couture on both side thought one stamping is worn and barely readable. Delivery can be arranged for a local buyer… there might be a small fee depending on location!
